Job Description

A growing company is seeking a hands-on Payroll Manager to fully own payroll operations, ensure strong compliance, and lead an upcoming payroll system conversion. This is a stand-alone role with no direct reports, ideal for someone who thrives in an independent function, communicates clearly, and takes initiative.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all aspects of bi-weekly payroll, including commissions, bonuses, adjustments, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate employee data, timekeeping, deductions, garnishments, and payroll documentation.
  • Lead the company's payroll system conversion (Paycom ideal), including testing, process mapping, and go-live support.
  • Oversee prevailing wage and LCP compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Finance, HR, and Operations to resolve payroll issues and support cross-functional needs.
  • Produce payroll and commission reports; assist with year-end filings and audit support.
  • Identify areas to streamline and improve payroll processes.

What We're Looking For (Required)

  • 4+ years of progressive payroll experience
  • Experience with prevailing wage and LCP compliance
  • Payroll conversion/implementation experience (Paycom ideal)
  • Strong communication skills; positive, adaptable, proactive
  • Ability to work independently in a stand-alone payroll capacity
  • Experience with commissions or bonus programs

Nice to Have (+)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field
  • Experience with Paycom or ADP
  • Experience in construction, field services, or similar industries
  • Payroll certifications (CPP, CPPT)
